W. L. Dorpfeld Design is a Christian owned company. You may say, big deal, what’s that mean to me? Well that means we will always attempt to manage our business and our relationship with our customers in a Christ-like manner: the way Jesus Christ would want us to. Christ came to our world to humbly serve mankind. We’ll treat you like a servant should treat his master, and we’ll try not to let you down. We’ll be there to help you as much as you need us to be. We may make mistakes, but we'll correct them, and ask for your forgiveness. We'll do our best to treat you fairly and honestly, and more.

When Heidi and I met more than 20 years ago neither of us were Christ-followers. Oh, we went to church, but serving Christ was not a priority in our lives. This short message is meant to convey, to anyone interested, how my life was impacted when I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. Let me preface the following with this… accepting Jesus Christ in your life is a personal thing and it effects people differently. The one common link to all born again Christians is that we know we have been saved and there will be a place for us in our Father’s kingdom when the time comes. If nothing else, the next few paragraphs will hopefully start you thinking about yourself, your family, your life and your salvation.

I don’t believe I was ever a terrible person, I mean I was basically honest and always tried to do the right thing. That’s just a result of a good upbringing. Oh I’ve fallen down now and then, but doesn’t everybody? I’ve always worked hard, starting my own sign painting business at age sixteen, although great wealth always seemed to escape my grasp. I had more than an average amount of artistic ability and always believed it was God given talent. Consequently, I told myself I must use this God given talent to the maximum, but I was always looking to the world for a pat on the back for a job well done. I was trying to serve the world and myself looking for approval from men and women and sometimes I find myself still doing that. What’s different now is that my priorities have changed. I now desire to serve God first. When my dad was still with us, pleasing him was very important to me, not because I feared him, but because I loved him. That’s the way it is with Jesus now, we have a relationship with one another. I know I disappoint him everyday, and that hurts, but I know he forgives me and that’s one of the reasons I love Him. You see, there’s no way any of us can live a life totally acceptable to God, the creator of all there is. “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one” Romans 3:10. After much thought and consideration, it seems to me the heigth of human arrogance and pride to consider myself acceptable to God. We can only make ourselves acceptable through his grace (God’s unmerited favor). God’s plan is simple, accept my son Jesus Christ and his sacrifice, acknowledge your sins, ask for forgiveness and walk with me.

Now you should know this, the Christian life is not necessarily easier; sometimes it’s harder. Trying to do the right thing in this world is often a handicap. Living by the rules when others seem to have none will at times be difficult. But just remember it’s only that way in this world.
